These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and FinMind for your use of the FinMind website and the FinMind iOS app at finmindmoney.com, app.finmindmoney.com, and the App Store (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the Last updated date. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms. Check this page from time to time.
FinMind is a personal finance application on the web and iPhone. It helps you track accounts and transactions, set budgets and goals, view reports, and plan trips. We may change, suspend, or interrupt features. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available or error-free.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it current.
Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account, including activity by household members you invite. Do not share your login. Notify us if you believe your account was used without permission. We may suspend or close accounts that have false information or that violate these Terms.
FinMind is not a bank, credit union, broker, investment adviser, registered investment adviser, tax adviser, lawyer, or credit reporting agency. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Information in the app is not an official record of any financial institution and may be delayed or incomplete compared with your bank. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for financial decisions.
If you connect a financial institution, you authorize FinMind and Plaid to retrieve account, balance, and transaction information for that connection (currently about 730 days of transaction history). We store Plaid access tokens using security measures designed to protect them so the connection can keep working until that bank is disconnected or your account is deleted. You may only connect accounts you have the right to access.
You can remove a linked institution in Settings. That disconnects the Plaid connection when no FinMind accounts still depend on it. Deleting your account disconnects remaining bank connections. Plaid is a separate company; its terms and privacy notices apply. See Plaid's legal pages.
Connecting a bank does not authorize us to debit that account for subscription fees. Website subscriptions are billed through Stripe using the card you provide at checkout. iOS subscriptions are billed through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple and Stripe are separate merchants of record; buying on one platform does not automatically cancel the other.
If you accept a household invitation, active members can see each other's accounts and transactions, including accounts labeled personal. View filters in the app do not remove that access. Budgets, goals, rules, and billing details stay with each person's login.
A pending invite does not share data. Only invite people you trust with that information. Household members may use the household owner's active subscription for app access; only the billing owner manages payment (Stripe Customer Portal on the web, or App Store subscriptions when Apple is the billing provider). FinMind does not offer advisor or "act as you" partner access.
You agree not to:
Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly at the prices shown on our pricing page (web) or in the App Store product listing (iOS). Prices may change; we will charge the then-current price for future terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
On the website, checkout is processed by Stripe using the card you provide. Stripe, not FinMind, may place a temporary authorization on your card when you start a trial or pay. You can cancel through the Stripe customer portal from billing settings.
In the iOS app, auto-renewable subscriptions are sold by Apple as In-App Purchases. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or from Manage in the FinMind app when Apple is your billing provider. Restore Purchases re-applies an existing Apple subscription to the same FinMind account; it will not attach another person's purchase to your account.
New paid plans on the website include a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required. Cancel before the trial ends if you do not want to be charged. After you cancel, access continues through the period you already paid for, then a short grace period (about 7 days), then the app is limited until you renew. We do not delete your account data because a subscription lapses. Apple trial and offer terms, if any, are shown in the App Store listing.
If you request a refund within 30 days of a paid Stripe charge, contact support@finmindmoney.com. Refunds for Apple In-App Purchases are handled by Apple, not FinMind. Stripe refunds are handled manually; they are not processed automatically in the app.
You keep ownership of the financial data and other content you provide. You grant FinMind a limited license to store, process, and display that content only as needed to operate the Service for you and, if you join a household, for other members of that household as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
If you upload photos or other files the Service supports (including a profile photo, goal image, or receipt), you represent that you have the right to use them. Uploading material you do not have the right to use is a breach of these Terms. We may remove that content, or suspend or close access, as described under Suspension and deletion. Copyright complaints or notices may be sent to support@finmindmoney.com.
FinMind owns the Service, including its software, design, and marks. You may use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. Do not copy or reuse our marks without permission.
If you send product feedback (ideas, suggestions, or bug reports), we may use that feedback to improve the Service without paying you. That does not give us extra rights in your financial data, transactions, receipts, or other account content.
The Service relies on third parties, including Plaid, Stripe, Apple (Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchase), Supabase, Google (Sign-In and Maps/Places), and others described in the Privacy Policy. Their terms apply to their services. Links to other sites are not endorsements. We are not responsible for banks, card networks, or other third-party sites you visit.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. Data from linked institutions may be delayed, incomplete, or different from your bank.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FINMIND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO FINMIND FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR $0 IF YOU PAID NOTHING. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and hold FinMind harmless from third-party claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, household members you invite, or accounts you connect without authority, including reasonable attorneys' fees.
You agree that we may send notices by email to the address on your account and through the Service. Those notices satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing.
We may suspend or close access if you breach these Terms. Creating a new account to evade a suspension is not allowed.
You may delete your account in Settings under Data & Privacy after cancelling an active or trialing subscription. In the iOS app, deletion is also available in Settings and requires reauthentication; you cannot rely on the website alone to satisfy in-app account deletion. When you delete your account, we delete the FinMind account and application data that our account-deletion process is designed to remove, disconnect your linked bank connections, and retain certain information that remains in systems such as our payment processors (Stripe and Apple), logs, backups, or error-monitoring systems, or that we are required to retain, as described in the Privacy Policy.
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and FinMind about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We may assign these Terms; you may not. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Using the Service does not make you an employee, partner, or agent of FinMind.
